Woodturning Videos Plus July Update

Marjorie and Steve Russell

25th Wedding Anniversary: Marjorie and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii by renewing our wedding vows in Honolulu, near Diamond Head at sunset. This was our fourth trip to the islands and our most memorable yet. I was able to meet with several woodturners during our trip, as well as artists from other disciplines like fiber, oil painting, hot glass and furniture to name a few. It was great to meet so many artists and see some of their studios. If you have never been to Hawaii before, it is well worth a trip to this island paradise. We are already planning our next trip…

Mini Edition Of Lathe Talk This Month: This month's Lathe Talk is a shortened version (no "Hot Tip Of The Month" column), since our recent vacation to Hawaii occurred during our normal build time for the newsletter. We will return to our normal expanded format next month. Mahalo! (Hawaiian for Thanks!)

New Feature Articles Coming Soon: We are planning to add a new series of feature articles to select editions of Lathe Talk. These will be step-by-step photo articles with captions that show different projects being turned from start to finish. Since there will be so many photos, we will introduce the article in Lathe Talk and give a link to the full article on a special area of our website.

This will insure that the email editions of Lathe Talk do not get too large for those subscribers on dial-up, or those who read it on their mobile devices. Look for these special photo step-by-step articles in the near future!

"Woodturning" Magazine: I'm pleased to announce that I'm once again writing articles for the Guild of Master Craftsman's "Woodturning" magazine. Woodturning magazine is published in London, England and is one of the finest magazines in the world devoted exclusively to woodturning. It contains articles from the some of the best turners and writers in the woodturning field. Subscription information can be found here.

You can also purchase individual copies at most larger bookstores like Barnes and Noble. If it is not on the shelf, they can special order a copy for you.

Link To Our Free Educational Libraries: If you belong to a woodturning club or association, please consider asking your Webmaster to add a link to our website's free educational libraries. There are currently 24 articles in the main library and 25 articles in the tip library, covering beginner to advanced topics.

Please help us to share this valuable learning resource with other turners in your woodturning clubs, associations, or on your own woodturning website links page.
